Uber is a downright sad company.
I drove for them for nearly 5+ years and have not sustained a decent median wage living as an independent contractor. And you’re right— most gig workers don’t receive much of anything besides a decent tax write off on their own vehicle and the supposed “freedom” of being a non-employee subject to making their own hours.
Blah.
The sad thing is that it’s a very addictive business for the drivers. One can easily turn on the app and make “decent” money on the whim, all while selling your soul to a soul-less corporation that could care less about your future and humanity in general.
Uber cheated me out of so many benefits it’s not even funny.
I wish I could go back in time and say to myself “don’t do it”.
